Rebuilder is a non-profit marine environment conservation organisation funded by international students in Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School, specificly aiming at conserving coral reefs ecosystem.
Coral reefs only occupy less than 0.1% marine surface, but provide abundant foods and reliable habitats for over 25% marine species. They are the key to maintain biodiversity in the ocean. However, problems such as global warming, ocean pollution, illegal fish blasting greatly endangered coral reefs, causing their bleaching rate reached 80% in south China. This will lead to a significant drop in biodiversity.
So, what can we do? Rebuilder is providing a platform for people who want participate in conserving coral reefs as well as overall marine environment. In 2015, Rebuilder conduct 2 local conserving project in the Philippine, successfully built coral nurseries and transplanted half-bleaching corals. Thus increase the survival rates. In the mean time, we propagate ideas and knowledge about coral reefs and other marine species. We also conduct speech and lectures, and corporate with other environmental groups and organisations, raise the awareness of conserving coral reefs. Rebuilder do all of these just for one reason:
Rebuild coral reefs, rebuild the future.
